With the vision and support of the community, members, foundations, and many others, the Wilmington Historical Society is planning to be the Whiteface Region’s first history and cultural interpretive center. As stewards of the past we will be consolidating resources from disparate areas into one safe, secure area. The physical building will be of a timeless Arts & Crafts Adirondack-style commensurate with other architecture of the area. Other features include:

- Display & lecture space
- Extensive historical & genealogical research library
- Office space within the library
- Small store space within the library
- Kitchenette
- Climate controlled
- Sprinkler system
- Solar panels & HVAC heat pumps Parking for 24 cars, plus 2 handicap-accessible
- Meets all ADA requirements, including restrooms
Since 2003, we have:
- Purchased land
- Commissioned architectural plans
- Completed site work
- Brought the electric and water utilities to building site (with the assistance of Brookside developer Jeff Gelfand)
- Dedicated land right-of-way as a Town Road
- Anticipated grant & other funding as the final piece of the puzzle
